The Solemn Inauguration for the academic cum formation year at Patriarchal Seminary of Rachol was held on 3rd July 2023. The Inaugural Mass was presided over by His Eminence Filipe Neri Cardinal Ferrão and concelebrated by The Vicar General Jose Remedios Fernandes, residential priests and other Diocesan and Religious priests. Grand opening of the L.A.C.A.R.S board and the blessing of the paddy field was held soon after the mass. The inaugural function was held in the Seminary auditorium. Rev. Fr. Agnelo Pinheiro escorted the Archbishop, the Chief Guest for the day and the other dignitaries. The days programme began with the Seminary Orchestra who presented Brandenburg Concerto no. 3 by J.S Bach under the baton of Rev. Fr. Mathew Rebello. The ceremony of the Lighting of the Lamp was initiated by the Archbishop, Vicar General, Fr. Rector and the representative seminarians. Rev. Fr. Donato, the Rector, welcomed the esteemed gathering, introduced the topic of the Lectio Brevis and also its presenter Rev. Fr. Heston Ferrão, Sem. Malcolm Colaco the artist of the Seminary logo, explained the Seminary theme and logo, formulated as follows; “In Your Priestly Formation and Ministry: Do as I have done.” Rev. Fr. Heston Ferrao then presented the Lectio Brevis, on the topic “Facing the Fascist Forces in a Christian way.” The Santa Cecilia Choir with their choral piece, “Music all powerful” by T. F Walmisley was executed Rev. Fr. Mathew Rebello, was a fitting response as a means of crossing boundaries peacefully. Towards the end of the programme, the Chief Guest addressed the gathering with a note stating, ‘Be Life Long Learners.’ Co-ordinator of the day, Sem. Kennedy Mascarenhas proposed the Vote of Thanks and the function concluded with the Seminary Anthem. The days programme was ably anchored by Sem. Jason Travasso.
