The Patriarchal Seminary of Rachol had its first L.A.C.A.R.S (Literary and Cultural Activities of Rachol Seminary) activity on the 21st July 2022 at 3:30 pm based on the theme “Goychi Soimbik Sobitay: Poryattonik Osmitai,” (Goa’s Natural Beaty: Tourism Identity). The program consisted of two main events, on-stage and off-stage. The off-stage events included seminarians and staff members, enthusiastically participating in the events allotted to them, to show case their talents by bring out beautifully crafted items and umbrella-paintings. Similarly, the on-stage event comprised of advertising the different types of tourism that is witnessed in Goa and what could be witnessed as an alternate to stereotyped beach tourism in Goa.
The occasion was graced by the presence of the Guests and judges Rev. Fr. Freddy Braganca and Ms. Steffni Ema Cruz. Fr. Freddy Braganca, Executive Secretary for Center for Responsible Tourism- Goa, in his address emphasized on the need for authentic Goan tourism, which is not seen brought to national and international attention. He also made a mention of the need to view the local Goan communities as a means to promote authentic Goan culture. Finally, towards the end of the program Ms. Steffni Cruz declared the winners of the day’s competition; the 3rd place was secured by Blue bouse, the 2nd place was shared between Green and Yellow house, and the 1st place by the Red house.
