On 18th September 2022, on the occasion of Vocation Sunday, the Sports Cell of Rachol Seminary (SARS) organised a volleyball and football match between Birondem Community and Rachol Seminary seminarians. The day began with a short Seminary tour at 3:15 pm. While the Rector welcomed the guests which included Fr. Sebastiao Eusico Pereira, Fr. Felix Lobo, and the parishioners of Birondem, Seminarian Benny led the congregation into prayer. This was followed by the volleyball match at 4:10 pm. The match referee was Fr Myron, the assistant to the parish priest of Rachol Church. The first set was won by the Rachol seminarians with the score being 15-5. Although the Birondem youth tried to regain control over the game, the second set also went in favour of the Rachol Seminarians with a score 15-6. After the volleyball match, everyone headed to the football ground. The referee for the football match was Santan Furtado. Both the teams looked equally strong until a penalty helped the Rachol Seminarians to emerge as champions with a score of 1-0. After the match, the chief guest Fr. Eusico spoke a few words of encouragement. This was followed by prize distribution. Seminarian Benny, president of the Sports Cell of Rachol Seminary (SARS), gave the vote of thanks and also said the final prayer. Finally, the programme concluded with a fellowship gathering for tea and snacks. The parishioners of Birondem parish departed from the seminary with great joy.
