The LACARS (Literary and Cultural Association of Rachol Seminary) organized their annual Inter Religious Meeting on the occasion of the Gandhi Jayanti at its Auditorium, on 2nd October 2022. The theme chosen for this gathering was, “Being Humane is being Holy”.The program was attended by various schools, colleges and people of other faiths who came from different parts of Goa. The participants discussed the questions: “First, How can Religious ideologies and tradi­tions help in promoting welfare of humanity? Secondly, what are the positive contribution of one’s religion in fostering Human Solidarity? in four groups. The meeting was addressed by three key speakers representing Islam, Hinduism and Christianity. The said resource speakers were Ms. Ayesha Sheikh, Mrs. Shamal Avdhoot Kamat and Dr. Oscar Braganza D’Mello. The program also included a prayer dance by the students from St Theresa’s High School Raia, a Konkani Skit by the students of the Rosary College of Arts and Commerce, Navelim, and a Bharatnatyam dance depicting unison of mind, heart and soul by the Devidas sisters from Cuncolim. The unity act was performed by beating of the drum by a single stroke by each of the resource person symbolizing the uniqueness of the stroke and the universality of the sound. A pledge of communal harmony and the promotion of humane values was taken by all the partici­pants. An encaged dove was released to signify the freedom from religious hatred and hostility to a life of peaceful and joyful humane co-existence among the people of different faiths. The program concluded with the singing of the National Anthem.
