On the occasion of its 60th anniversary of foundation, Institute Mater Dei (IMD) Old Goa, in collaboration with Pilar Theological Institute (Pilar) and the Patriarchal Seminary of Rachol organized an inter-institute symposium on the 28th of September 2024 at IMD Old Goa. IMD hosted the symposium which was graced by the presence and participation of our auxiliary bishop Simião Fernandes. Coherent with the ongoing synod on relooking of the synodal nature of the Church, and Pope Francis’ call that Priestly and religious education should be more centred on principles of synodality, the symposium sought to relook at the formation process and was thus themed “Deconstructing tradition, rethinking Priestly and religious formation for a Post-institutional era”. The highlights of the event included the keynote address by Rev. Dr Augustine Mulloor, OCD, Provincial Superior, Manjummel Province and the presentation of 3 scholarly and thought-provoking papers presented by eminent personalities involved in Religious and Priestly formation and respective responses given by a representative from each of the 3 participating institutions. The proceedings for the day were brought to a fitting conclusion with a short cultural programme.
