Solemn Feast of St. Ignatius of Loyola

Solemn Feast of St. Ignatius of Loyola

The Patriarchal Seminary of Rachol community celebrated the solemn feast of St. Ignatius of Loyola, the patron of the Seminary Church. The festive celebration began with the solemn vespers which was presided over by Rev.  Fr. Edson Fernandes. In his reflection he briefly brought out the life of St. Ignatius of Loyola and exulted the seminarians to inculcate the values of discipline, eagerness to learn and proclaim Christ.

On the feast day, the seminary brass band played the Alvarado which set the tone for the occasion. The solemn Eucharist was presided over by the Rector Rev. Dr. Aleixo Menezes and concelebrated by in house priests and priests from neighbouring parishes. Rev. Fr.George Dias in his homily helped the seminarians to imbibe the virtues of St. Ignatius in formation and set him as a model for preaching and being a soldier of God.

As part of its rich and glorious traditions, the Santa Cecilia Choir of the Seminary, under the baton of Rev. Fr. Simon D’Cunha, sang some parts of the mass in Latin.  It enhanced the solemnity and was appreciated by all. This was followed by a festive community lunch which helped to strengthen our brotherhood. The day came to an end with a traditional football match between the seminarians of theology and philosophy courses.
