Mission Academy

Report of the Mission Academy held on 21st January 2018

The annual mission academy for the academic year 2017-2018 was held on 21st January 2018 in the seminary auditorium. The programmed commenced at 3.30 pm with a short prayer service. The Rector, Rev Dr Aleixo Menezes welcomed the gathering and the chief guest Rev Fr Gabriel Coutinho was welcomed with a potted plant. The Moderator Rev Dr Agnelo Pinheiro and the speakers Sems. Anthony Carvalho, Edwin D’sa, Ruel Fernandes and Melcher pinto were escorted to the dais by Rev Dr Victor Ferrao. The theme chosen for the mission academy was “MISSION AS POSITIVE PRESENCE.” After the respective presentation of the papers by the speakers, the academy was left open for clarifications. Sem Francisco Barreto presented the report of the mission experience he had as a part of the academic Missiology course. The chief guest was than invited to speak a few words on his experience as a missionary in the missions of Agartala where he had rendered service for eighteen months. He was than presented with a token of love on behalf of the Rector, staff and the seminarians. First and second year of Philosophy students presented a Goan folk dance and the third year of Philosophy students presented the L.A.C.A.R.S archives, consisting of  selected articles, poems and drawings by the seminarians that were presented on the L.A.C.A.R.S Happenings board for the past four years. Sem Aidan Fernandes, the coordinator for the programme, gave the vote of thanks and the programme ended at 5.30 pm. Sem Clive Diniz was the compere for the programme.
